Dry Skin? Meet The Dream Team
Although it has been warming up here in Southern California, I know that’s not the case for everyone around the world. Needless to say my skin is still recovering from the cold dry weather of this past winter. Naturally, I have normal to dry skin enter winter season and it’s on a whole new level of dryness. So I am always on the hunt for products that are moisturizing yet not heavy or greasy. I put together a few items which have helped me a lot and hopefully helps you as well. Keep in mind everyone’s skin is different so results may vary from one individual to another.
FACE
I used to think the heavier the moisturizer is the better but from my experience that’s not the case. Heavy creams always feel greasy, don’t absorb into the skin and it ends up getting all over my pillow! So I found something that is both hydrating, lightweight and budget friendly. At night or even during the day (before sunscreen) I apply Mario Badescu Kera Moisturizer. A little goes a long way and quickly absorbs into the skin making your skin feel very soft.
Cost: $20
Available at Nordstroms, Ulta and Amazon.
HANDS
I’ve tried all kinds of hand lotions but my hands remain perpetually dry and cracked. Spending the majority of my time in the kitchen cooking and baking I have to wash my hands constantly and this exacerbates the problem. The Weleda Skin Food Hydrating Lotion is the best out there!! This stuff is great and it has helped my dry hands and cuticles so much. It’s a thick cream but it quickly absorbs into the skin with no greasy residue. I set it by my bedside table and only apply it right before I go to sleep, that way it stays on all night.
Cost: $10-$15
Available at: Target, Whole Foods and Amazon.
LIPS
What can I say about my dry lips other than that they’re so freakin’ dry!! I’ve tried so many products which feel great on the first few applications but suddenly stop working. The one lip balm that has been consistently keeping my lips well moisturized is the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm With SPF 25. This stuff lasts for hours without having to constantly reapply, it’s definitely up there in price but for a product that works I don’t mind spending the few extra bucks.
Cost$ 7.50
Available at: Sephora, Nordstroms, Ulta and Amazon.
BODY
My first skincare purchase as a teenager was the Nivea face cream; my family also used their hand cream that came in a blue tin container (do they still make those?). So it’s a no-brainer that my first choice would be to reach for the Nivea Essentially Enriched Body Lotion for dry to very dry skin. It’s a lightly scented lotion containing almond oil and best of all comes at a great price.
Cost: $5.89
Available at: Target
I’ve been looking for a good moisturizer and a good body lotion! I’ll try both out!
Let me know what you think!
